Before
Northvale was named Northvale, before it was known as Carrieville,
even before it was called Neuvy, the land was part of a c. 1640
purchase from the Tappan Tribe by a Dutch Captain to establish
a trading post. Later in the same century, the site was incorporated
into a royal land grant to the Haring family, who paid 16 bushels

Please be advised that the Work Session Meeting of the Mayor and Council scheduled and advertised for Tuesday August 31, 2010 has been cancelled. There will be a Combined Meeting of The Mayor & Council on Wednesday September 8, 2010 at 7:30 PM in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building at 116 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ 07647. All members of the public are welcome.

Due to a recent article in the Star Ledger yesterday with regard to 3 men posing as police officers and robbing a Clifton resident – the Northvale Police Department is asking that you take the following precautions
1. Do not open your door to anyone that you cannot visually see is a Northvale police officer.
2. If you look out your window and cannot see a police car secure your home and immediately dial 9-1-1 – the Northvale police department will respond immediately to your call.

Licenses for dogs and cats were due by February 15, 2010.New Jersey Statutes Annotated 4:19-15.2A requires that the duration of the immunity against rabies is to cover the duration of the licensing period. Proof of rabies vaccination is required prior to licensing.

Due to new Stormwater Regulations, all residents are required to
put all grass clippings, leaves and small brush into barrels for
pick up as they will not be vacuumed at the curb in
the Spring.

Yarn to Help Seriously Ill Children

The
McGuire Senior Center is asking for donations of new acrylic yarn,
4-ply, in pastel colors. The ladies of Linus Project have crocheted
over 1,000 blankets for seriously ill children. The blankets are
donated to Hackensack University Hospital's Imus Center for Tomorrow's
Children and the pediatric ward of Pascack Valley Hospital. Please
call the center at 201-767-6299 for drop off times.
